In July of 1996, the British Department of Health issued a warning that the phyto-estrogens found in soy-based infant formulas could adversely affect infant health. When we think of sugar, we think of sweetness, decadence, luxury, a special treat.  But the truth is that sugar has become an insidious uninvited guest in almost everything we put in our mouths.  This is frightening in light of the fact that a survey of medical journals produced findings "implicating sugar as a causative factor in kidney disease, liver disease, shortened lifespan, increased desire for coffee and tobacco, as well as atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.”  It's time to re-evaluate our relationship with sugar...

Getting Familiar With Protein
It is impossible to overemphasize the importance of adequate dietary protein, when considering the modern day athlete.   Both strength and endurance of an athlete's body exist in a perpetual cycle of muscle breakdown and rebuilding and, as a result, have much greater protein requirements than people who choose to not engage in regular strenuous physical activity.   Supplementation may be the answer.
