I Believe in the Power of Patterns

When you are looking at a mosaic floor uncovered in Pompeii or an indian beadwork in New Mexico, you realize the beauty and intricacy of patterns.  You also realize that the patterning creates a strength that can resist even a volcanic eruption.

Patterns surround us, but they are also a hidden key to resolving even the most chronic of symptoms.  Let’s begin by looking at a couple of facts in life that bear a remarkable resemblance to the human body. First, if you want to find anything that is lost, the best way is to retrace your steps or follow the clues left by the path that was taken. The second is the question of whether the spider is aware of the pattern of its web, because every spider’s web has an unique pattern, or whether the spider is creating its web unconsciously or instinctively and so therefore is its pattern.

Every person is unique and so their body is also unique. In order to truly understand a person’s condition, illness, disease or symptoms, you have to be able to “see” the pattern made. This is where two important factors in natural medicine intersect, the retracing back well before the emergence of symptoms and the unconscious pattern that has been created, often without the knowledge of the body.

It is in this space that the more modern concept of Stealth Pathogens has emerged. These are infectious diseases where the causative pathogen creates ways in which it can shield itself from your immune system and even from being noticed by your body’s chemical and neural pathways. This can be a liquid layer of sugar molecules that covers the pathogen with a slippery surface making it difficult to be picked up. It can a biofilm that covers a group of bacteria shielding them from your immune cells. It can be having a chemical signal that gives the impression of a natural body element or a “safe” microbe. Some can actually mimic your own tissue, tricking your immune system. Many can even create “keys” on their surface allowing them to invade your own cells where they can hide out like Dennis Leary in the movie “The Ref”.

This also means that any kind of testing, whether blood testing, conventional medical scans or even muscle testing can miss key clues to the path of a pathogen. This is what causes false positives, misdiagnoses and often leads to prescription drug therapy that can actually worsen the condition or interfere with your own body’s ability to identify and deal with an emerging illness.

This is where I find many mistakes have occurred that account for someone having symptoms for weeks, months or even years without relief or resolution. It’s not because this is a chronic illness for which there is no resolution. Instead this is usually because of a missed causative factor. The very treatments that have been given have kept the immune system from giving us the information we need to find the problem.

We need to ask WHY. If a pharmaceutical is administered without truly knowing why the symptom exists, then you run the risk of removing the body’s own ability to manage or resolve the underlying condition. We need to focus on helping the body’s own healing mechanisms and arsenal of immune capabilities to find, identify and resolve the issue. Simply giving pain medication, blood pressure medication, cholesterol medication, steroids, diuretics, GLP 1 agonists, acid reflux medication, antidepressants, will do nothing to resolve the problem and it is setting up the patient for long-term dependence on a medication that will only subdue symptoms.

This is why I encourage people to work with me to figure out the true underlying issues, their body’s inherent weaknesses and then point the body in the right direction. Things like Cat’s Claw and Biofilm medicinals can shine a light on the patterns that the client creates as well as the patterns that an unresolved problem have left behind.  These patterns are the key to resolving your symptoms and restoring health.  Whether it’s scar tissue from an injury, a muscle memory from a trauma, a chronic dehydration or degradation of particular tissues, chemical or toxic exposure, or simply long-term allergies, trying to follow the clues and uncover the pattern is the only way to get real healing.
