Bacopa and Epilepsy

Bacopa has a long history of use for epilepsy in the Ayurvedic system of healing, but until recently it has not been on the radar screen of western practitioners.  It is known for improving learning and memory, but it is not so well known for its amazing effects on seizure disorders.  When provided in a combination with relaxing nervine herbs such as Mexican Valerian and Ashwaganda, the results can be significant.

One case of a three year old boy with cerebral palsy and epilepsy is a case in point.  Averaging eight seizures a day and more with stress, constipation or infection, there was little improvement that the family had experienced for their child with drug therapy.  He was on clobazam, lamotrigine and diazepam and still was suffering daily and sleeping almost constantly.

Within three months, his seizures had completely stopped and he could go up to a month without a seizure.  Then it allows for a focus on other body systems that have suffered from neglect, such as digestion, breathing and bowel function.

But beginning with Bacopa has saved many families by bringing back their children and freeing them from the prison of seizures.
